Our Desert Adventure is a combination of kayaking and hiking; it includes a 3 mile hike down beautiful desert canyons, a visit to Arizona hot springs, and 8 miles of paddling down the Black Canyon of the Colorado River.
We love kayaking in the desert at night. Therefore, we also guide moonlight paddle trips.
And we guide one day or short overnight kayak out of Temple Bar on remote eastern Lake Mead.
We provide kayaking lessons and a library of articles on kayaking and paddle skills, such as the torso twist forward stroke, other efficient forward stroke techniques, map and compass, navigating at night, the kayak wet entry / re-entry, the use of the skeg, kayaking in high winds, the high brace and the Eskimo Roll and kayaking strength and fitness training with kettlebells.
We offer beginner kayak lessons. If you like outdoor recreation and sports that are health and fitness oriented, you owe it to yourself to come out and have some fun with us. Our teaching style is relaxed. We teach the best techniques the first day so you will have a good foundation for a life's worth of kayaking.
We also offer advanced kayak instruction. If you have paddled before but want new skills come out and join us. We can teach you to paddle in high winds, which by the way, Lake Mead is famous for. We can teach you the high braces, efficient self-rescue, or even several kayak rolls. We can teach you very efficient forward strokes that you can apply to your dream kayak wilderness vacation or to expedition length racing.
We host a unique fitness experience of kayaking and outdoor adventure. Our adventure fitness program is outdoor and it's hardcore. One to three days of kayaking, canyon running, hot springs, mountain biking, advanced kayak skills, and hardcore strength workouts. We tailor this fitness vacation to your fitness level and to your schedule.
We also can take you on some great hikes and show you some of the Mojave Desert and its Natural History around Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
