Kayak Lake Mead – Terms & Conditions
(Effective September 2026)
Operated by Mojave Adventure Kayaking LLC (“we,” “us,” “the Company”), doing business as Kayak Lake Mead.

Tours inside Lake Mead National Recreation Area (“LAKE”) are operated under a National Park Service Commercial Use Authorization. Park regulations, the Superintendent’s Compendium, and that authorization control if they conflict with these Terms. We do not advertise, solicit, collect fees, or sell goods or services inside park boundaries.

1. Booking & Payment

• Bookings are confirmed only when we receive full payment.

• Guided tour prices are per person and include the paddle craft, paddle, U.S. Coast Guard–approved life jacket, and guide services.

• Rental prices are per paddle craft for the time reserved and include the paddle craft, paddle, and U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket. Rentals do not include a guide.

• Hoover Dam / Lower Portal (“The Whole Dam Tour”) tours: the park-authorized launch-permit fee is included in the tour price. Those permits are reserved through the park-authorized system and are not refundable. If the tour is canceled or rescheduled by any means, the launch-permit portion of the price is non refundable or transferable.

• Prices do not include the National Park Service vehicle entrance fee (currently $25, or a valid America the Beautiful / park pass), any separate lake-use fee, parking, or tips.

• Your confirmation will include the meeting place and/or launch location, agreed pickup date and time if applicable, and an operational emergency contact number for problems during the trip.

2. Cancellation & Refund Policy

• Client cancellation more than 72 hours before the scheduled departure: 80% refund of the refundable tour price. The remaining 20% is a non-refundable processing fee. On Whole Dam tours, the launch-permit portion is also deducted and is not refunded.

• Client cancellation less than 72 hours before the scheduled departure, or no-show: no refund.

• Client-requested date change: treated as a cancellation of the original date and a new booking, subject to availability. The 72-hour refund window is measured from the original scheduled departure, not the new date and not the date you requested the change.

• Company cancellation (unsafe weather or water, staffing, insufficient participants, park or security closure, or similar): you choose a full refund of the tour price or a reschedule to an available date. We do not keep the 20% fee on company cancellations. Third-party park entrance fees already paid are outside our refund.

• Any refund that is due will be issued within two weeks.

3. Participant Requirements

• Minimum age: 5 years old or 50 lbs, whichever the child meets.

• Children 8 and under are strongly recommended to ride in a tandem kayak with an adult.

• A parent or legal guardian must complete booking for any participant under 18.

• Maximum weight guideline: Height dictated weight limits apply for safety and boat stability. Use our weight-limit tool before booking. If a guest is over the limit shown there, we may require a tandem kayak or refuse participation with no refund. The tool result at the time of booking controls.

• All participants must be able to enter and exit the kayak independently or with minimal assistance, remain seated and balanced for extended periods, and manage their own personal needs for the duration of the tour.

• By checking the box to agree to these Terms at booking, you confirm that every person on the reservation meets these requirements. If a guest does not meet them at check-in, we may refuse participation. That is not a company cancellation. No refund will be issued.

4. Health & Safety

• Kayaking and related hiking involve physical exertion and inherent risks, including but not limited to: capsizing; cold-water immersion and hypothermia; heat illness, sun exposure, and dehydration; wind, waves, and rapidly changing weather; flash flooding in side canyons; other vessels; changing water releases below Hoover Dam; rocks, canyon walls, and submerged objects; wildlife; equipment failure; slipping on ramps or rocks; and delayed rescue.

• Disclose medical conditions or concerns that could affect safety at or before check-in. Guides may refuse participation if they believe a guest poses a risk to themselves or the group. If the guest does not meet the requirements in Section 3, Section 3 controls and there is no refund.

• In the Black Canyon corridor (Hoover Dam to Mile 43 on Lake Mohave), every guest and guide must wear a U.S. Coast Guard–approved life jacket at all times while underway. No exceptions.

• You must attend the in-person safety briefing and follow guide instructions, park rules, and Coast Guard rules.

• We carry first-aid equipment and a means of emergency communication. We may shorten, reroute, or end a trip for safety or park orders.

• Alcohol and impairing drugs are prohibited under Section 8.

5. Assumption of Risk and Limited Release

• You participate voluntarily and assume the inherent and other risks of the activity, including those listed in Section 4 and risks not specifically listed.

• Completing a booking and checking the box to agree to these Terms is your acknowledgement that you have read and accepted these Terms.

• To the extent permitted by law, you release Mojave Adventure Kayaking LLC, its owners, employees, guides, and agents from claims for injury, loss, damage, or death arising out of participation, including claims based on ordinary negligence. This release does not apply to gross negligence, recklessness, or willful misconduct. You are not required to indemnify us for gross negligence, recklessness, or willful misconduct.

• The undersigned further waives liability of the United States and acknowledges and agrees that the United States and its officers and employees are fully released from any liability for injuries, damages, or losses that the undersigned sustains as a result of or in connection with the undersigned’s participation in this activity.

6. Weather & River Conditions

• We may operate in heat, cold, wind, or light rain when we judge conditions safe. Discomfort from those conditions is not a basis for a refund.

• If we determine conditions are unsafe and cancel, Section 2 (company cancellation) applies.

7. Force Majeure

• We are not liable for extra costs (hotels, flights, lost time, park fees already paid) if a trip is delayed, modified, or cancelled because of events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, wildfires, government orders, extreme water levels, road closures, or security restrictions at Hoover Dam.

• If the trip cannot run, you choose a full refund of the tour price or a reschedule.

8. Alcohol & Drugs

• Consumption of alcohol or use of impairing substances before or during the tour is prohibited. Park and U.S. Coast Guard rules also apply.

• Guides may refuse boarding, or end a person’s participation after launch, if the person appears impaired. Pre-launch refusal under this section: no refund. After launch, we will get the person off the water as safely as practical; the tour price is not refunded.

9. Arrival & Late Policy

• Willow Beach / other non-security launches: check in at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure. Later than that may be treated as a no-show.

• Hoover Dam / Lower Portal launches: meet at the designated Hoover Dam Lodge staging area at the time on your confirmation (typically about 30 minutes before launch). Security inspects gear there. The escort leaves about 15 minutes before launch. If you miss the escort, you cannot launch that day; that is a no-show. The included launch-permit portion is not refundable.

• Do not wait at the Lower Portal security gate. The staging lot is the meeting place.

10. Group Size & Minimum Participants

• Most tours require a minimum of 2 paying participants. If the minimum is not met, we will offer a full refund, a reschedule, or conversion to a private tour at an additional fee, at your choice among the options we can actually run.

• Park limits apply and override our marketing group sizes:

  • Willow Beach: maximum client-to-guide ratio 12:1; maximum 12 paddlecraft per launch and 60 guided clients per day.

  • Lower Portal / Hoover Dam: maximum 15 paddlecraft per launch and 45 per day, including guide boats.

11. Pets

• Pets 25 lbs or less may be allowed only if park rules, launch-security rules, and the guide permit it that day.

• The pet must wear a properly fitted canine life jacket (not provided by us) and remain under control. Pets may not be left in vehicles.

• We may refuse any animal. You are responsible for confirming current park pet rules before booking.

12. Personal Belongings

• We are not responsible for lost, stolen, or water-damaged items.

• Phones, cameras, and valuables should be in a guest-supplied dry bag.

13. Photo & Video

• Guides may take photos or video during the tour and may share them with your group at no charge.

• By participating, adults grant permission for their likeness to be used in our promotional materials without compensation, unless they email us a written opt-out before the tour.

• A parent or guardian may opt a minor out before the tour. We will not use a minor’s likeness for promotion if we have received that opt-out.

• This covers ordinary handheld tour photography. Commercial filming with more than eight people, props or sets, or more than handheld equipment may require a separate NPS Special Use Permit.

14. Launch Locations & Park Conduct

• We do not have exclusive use of roads, beaches, ramps, or Black Canyon sites.

• Line-cutting or place-holding at Emerald Cave is prohibited.

• Commercial travel into Grand Canyon National Park is not authorized on our trips.

• Follow Leave No Trace. Do not collect plants, animals, minerals, or artifacts.

• Glass and Styrofoam containers are not allowed.

• You must follow all instructions from launch-security escorts at Lower Portal.

15. Food & Drinks

• We do not provide food or drinks on most tours.

• On the full-day Hoover Dam / Lower Portal launch tour only, we may provide bottled water, non-alcoholic drinks, and pre-packaged snacks prepared in a commercial kitchen. We do not provide catered meals or on-site sales.

• Glass and Styrofoam are not allowed.

16. Governing Law & Disputes

• These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, except that Arizona law may apply to conduct that occurs in Arizona (including Willow Beach launches).

• Subject to that rule, the parties agree to the exclusive venue of the state or federal courts in Clark County, Nevada, except where a statute requires otherwise.

17. Modifications

• We may update these Terms at any time. The version in effect when you complete payment controls that booking.

By completing a booking and checking the box to agree to these Terms, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by them.
